Nicolas Rivenq baritone
Licencié ès Lettres et ancien élève de l’École Normale
Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Nicolas Rivenq
commence sa carrière dans les ensembles Les Arts
Florissants et La Chapelle Royale, puis entre dans la
classe de Michel Sénéchal à l’École d’Art Lyrique de
l’Opéra de Paris, et se perfectionne enfin aux USA à
l’Université d’Indiana.
Remarqué par Yehudi Menuhin, il fait ses débuts aux
festivals d’Edinburgh et de Gstaad sous sa direction. À
son retour en France, il débute une longue collaboration
avec William Christie. Suite à sa rencontre avec Jean-
Claude Malgoire et Pier Luigi Pizzi, il a pris part à plus
d’une vingtaine de leurs productions.
Giorgio Strehler le choisit pour ce qui sera sa dernière
production d’opéra (Così fan tutte) pour l’inauguration
du Teatro d’Europa à Milan. Il participe aux concerts
inauguraux de la réouverture de La Fenice sous la
direction de Riccardo Muti, ainsi qu’à l’ouverture de la
Cité de la Musique à Paris sous la direction de Pierre
Boulez et de William Christie.
Son vaste répertoire l’a conduit à se produire à travers
le monde sous la direction de Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa,
René Jacobs, Iván Fischer, Michel Plasson, Antonio
Pappano, Evelino Pidò, Maurizio Benini, Giuliano
Carella, Marco Guidarini, Donato Renzetti, Árpád
Gérecz, John Eliot Gardiner, Kenneth Montgomery,
Daniele Gatti, etc.
A literature graduate (Licencié ès Lettres) and former
pupil of the École Normale Supérieure des Arts
Décoratifs, Nicolas Rivenq started his career as a
member of Les Arts Florissants and La Chapelle Royale,
before joining Michel Sénéchal’s class at the École
d’Art Lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris and taking advanced
courses at the University of Indiana.
After coming to the attention of Yehudi Menuhin, he
made his debut at the Edinburgh and Gstaad Festivals
under the latter’s direction. On his return to France, he
started a long collaboration with William Christie. He
has also taken part in more than twenty productions
with Jean-Claude Malgoire and Pier Luigi Pizzi.
Giorgio Strehler chose him for what turned out to
be his last opera production (Così fan tutte) for the
inauguration of the Teatro d’Europa in Milan. He also
took part in the reopening concert of La Fenice under
the direction of Riccardo Muti and in the opening
concert of the Cité de la Musique in Paris under the
direction of Pierre Boulez and William Christie.
Nicolas Rivenq performs his wide repertoire throughout
the world under the direction of such conductors as
Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, René Jacobs, Iván Fischer,
Michel Plasson, Antonio Pappano, Evelino Pidò,
Maurizio Benini, Giuliano Carella, Marco Guidarini,
Donato Renzetti, Árpád Gérecz, John Eliot Gardiner,
Kenneth Montgomery, and Daniele Gatti.
Als Absolvent der École Nationale Supérieure des Arts
Décoratifs begann Nicolas Rivenq seine Karriere als
Chorsänger der Ensembles Les Arts Florissants und La
Chapelle Royale. Er besuchte die Klasse von Michel
Sénéchal an der École d’Art Lyrique der Pariser Oper,
und nahm später Gesangsunterricht an der Universität
von Indiana.
Yehudi Menuhin wurde auf ihn aufmerksam, und unter
seiner Leitung gab er sein Debüt bei den Festivals in
Edinburgh und Gstaad. Anschließend kam es zu einer
langjährigen Zusammenarbeit mit William Christie.
Nach der Begegnung mit Jean-Claude Malgoire und Pier
Luigi Pizzi trat er in mehr als zwanzig ihrer Produktionen
auf.
Giorgio Strehler engagierte ihn für seine letzte
Opernproduktion (Così fan tutte) zur feierlichen
Eröffnung des Teatro d’Europa in Mailand. Unter der
Leitung von Riccardo Muti wirkte er bei den Konzerten
anlässlich der Wiedereröffnung von La Fenice mit
und unter Pierre Boulez und William Christie bei den
Eröffnungsfeierlichkeiten der Cité de la Musique in
Paris.
Mit seinem umfangreichen Repertoire war Nicolas
Rivenq in aller Welt und unter namhaften Dirigenten
zu hören, u.a. unter Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, René
Jacobs, Iván Fischer, Michel Plasson, Antonio Pappano,
Evelino Pidò, Maurizio Benini, Giuliano Carella, Marco
Guidarini, Donato Renzetti, Árpád Gérecz, John Eliot
Gardiner, Kenneth Montgomery, Daniele Gatti...
