Adjustments
Ariens Company recommends that you have
adjustments made by your Ariens Dealer. He has
tools and the know-how to properly perform
adjustments which may be required to keep your
Sno-Thro operating at peak efficiency. Should you
decide to make the following adjustments on your
Sno-Thro yourself, Ariens Company recommends
that you call your dealer for answers to any questions
that might arise.

WARNING: Gasoline is highly
flammable and its vapors are explosive.
Handle with care. Never allow smoking
materials, sparks, or flame (match, pilot
light, etc.) near equipment or fuel
container.
CAUTION: When unit is tipped up onto
housing, remove enough fuel so that no
spillage will occur.
Attachment Belt
Without the engine running, remove the Belt Cover.
Observe that the Attachment Brake is seated against
the Attachment Drive Belt when the Attachment
Clutch ContrpI Lever is in the released (full up)
position. Adjust the Control Cable Mounting Nuts to
snug up the Control Cable, then back off on the Nut 2
turns to provide cable slack for brake wear. (See
Figuréis).
A
WARNING: It is necessary to perform
the adjustments with the belt guard
removed and extreme care is to be
taken to prevent injury. Stand well
clear of the open belt drive while
engine is running.
Start engine and run at full throttle. Slowly depress
the Attachment Clutch Control Lever until the auger
shaft begins to rotate, obsen/ing the bolt at the end of
the auger shaft. The measurement between the end
of the Attachment Clutch Control Lever and the
Handle Grip at this point should be between 3“ and 3-
1/4" as shown in Figure 13. If this dimension is not
within this range shut off the engine and adjust the
Attachment Drive Idler Pulley as required. 1/16"
adjustment of the Attachment Drive Idler Pulley will
result in an approximate 1/4" change in the
Attachment Clutch Control Lever engagement
position. Moving the Attachment Drive Idler Pulley
towards the Attachment Drive Belt will increase the
dimension between the Attachment Clutch Control
Lever and the Handle Grip.
Restart the engine and recheck the 3" - 3 1/4"
dimension.
Shut off the engine and install the Belt Guard.
A
WARNING: Belt fingers must be
between 1/16" to 1/8" from belt with
attachment clutch engaged or belt
grabbing may occur causing impeller
to rotate when attachment clutch is
disengaged. There MUST BE a slight
amount of slack in cable or impeller
may rotate while attachment clutch is
disengaged.
Wheel Drive Clutch
Adjust wheel drive clutch to compensate for wear of
friction wheel when slippage occurs.
Properly adjust the wheel drive clutch by rotating the
adjusting sleeve until the cable length provides 1/8 to
3/16 clearance slot between the frame and the
traction clutch arm when the traction clutch handle is
fully depressed. Lock adjusting sleeve with jam nut
when adjustment is complete. (See figure 13).
